A few more photos with comments have been added to the site. They can be found under the Photos tab - April 2012.
Some of these provide a visual of areas we are planning to develop and other photos show interesting views of the area in Apil.
When we are next at the property we will get some photos of the river, waterfall and lake that we found by following a track past the river beach and under the N2. We came across this by accident when on a local stroll without a camera.

RyanAir

Yesterday and today there are stories about the baggage handlers' striking at Stansted Airport over the coming Bank Holiday and through to the 6th June. During this time, RyanAir are saying that no bags can be checked onto the flight only cabin luggage. We fly out at 9:15 on the 7th June with two large suitcases that we have paid RyanAir £50 each to take on board. Will the strike be over by then? Will there be any delays due to the chaos of the previous few days? It is not RyanAir's fault but the newspapers are using it to have a go at the cheap airliner. They mention 'hidden charges' but, as far as we are concerned, there are lots of strange charges, but they are not hidden and overall, the final price is very good. And, the flights are more often on time. We just don't want a baggage handlers' strike at this time when we have decided to take large suitcases.
Paulo has had the gas installed. And Sammy has been there a few times to receive the furniture. A few times because one item was damaged and IKEA returned to replace it. We are really looking forward to seeing the new furniture, it should make quite a difference.
On the Thursday, all being well, we will go straight to IKEA from the airport, it is only about 10 minutes away and it's on our route to the property. We are planning to buy duvets, pillows, lamps, mirrors, etc, etc. We have quite a list. Just hope we can get it all in the car along with two large suitcases!
We are also looking forward to seeing Sammy and to visit his indoor market near Salaborda Nova on the Sunday.
During the week we hope to see Paulo to discuss the kitchen and fitting out the loft to make an additional en-suite bedroom.
There is so much that can be done to the place but, there's always a 'but', the additional work to make the ruins habiltable will take lots of money and time, both in short supply at the moment.
